Explosion Reported on Iran’s Qeshm Island Amid Rising Regional Tensions

(MENAFN) An explosion was heard early Wednesday on Iran’s Qeshm Island, according to reports from local sources cited by Mehr News Agency.

The cause of the blast was not immediately confirmed. According to local accounts, the explosion may have occurred some distance from Qeshm city or could be connected to activity near the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

The reports emerged during a period of heightened tensions in the region, with increasing military activity and exchanges of threats involving Iran and the United States.

Local sources also claimed that parts of Hormozgan province and areas along the Persian Gulf coastline had been affected by what they described as US strikes since early Wednesday morning. According to those accounts, Iranian armed forces responded to the developments.

However, the claims have not been independently verified at this time.
