Trump Expresses Optimism About Potential US-Iran Agreement
In a message posted on social media, Trump stated that Tehran “really wants to make a deal” and said any future agreement could prove beneficial for both the United States and its partners.
The president also took aim at critics from both opposing political camps and within his own party, arguing that constant public commentary makes negotiations more difficult.
According to Trump, diplomatic efforts become significantly more challenging when political figures simultaneously push conflicting demands, ranging from accelerating talks to slowing them down, advocating military action, or urging restraint.
He described the ongoing criticism as “chirping,” saying the volume of such commentary is unlike anything he has previously experienced.
Despite the debate surrounding the negotiations, Trump urged observers to remain patient while discussions continue.
“Just sit back and relax, it will all work out well in the end - It always does!” Trump said.
The remarks come amid continued efforts to ease tensions between Washington and Tehran following months of regional instability. The crisis intensified after US and Israeli strikes on Iran earlier this year, followed by Iranian retaliatory attacks against Israeli targets and US allies in the Gulf region, as well as the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
Although a ceasefire brokered through Pakistan took effect on April 8, subsequent negotiations in Islamabad did not result in a permanent settlement. Since then, both sides have continued exchanging proposals in an attempt to restart direct negotiations and move toward a broader agreement.
