Israeli Military Launches ‘Large-Scale’ Offensive in S. Lebanon Areas
Military spokesperson Ella Waweya, writing on social media platform X, said the operation started “several days ago, with large ground forces” and is aimed at what she described as “destroying terrorist infrastructure and eliminating militants.”
She further claimed that Israeli forces had crossed the Litani River and expanded operations north of it in strikes directed against Hezbollah positions, adding that activity was now spreading to additional areas.
Waweya also said troops were operating near Nabatieh, which she described as “one of Hezbollah’s principal strongholds in southern Lebanon,” and added that forces were prepared to widen the operation if necessary.
Separately, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on X that troops had “crossed the Litani River and captured the Beaufort Ridge” as part of the expanded campaign.
According to reports, there has so far been no official response from Lebanese authorities regarding these claims.
