Pakistan Army Chief May Visit Tehran for Talks on Temporary US–Iran Deal

(MENAFN) Pakistan’s army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir is expected to hold discussions with Iranian leadership on a proposed “temporary” agreement aimed at ending the ongoing US–Iran conflict during a possible visit to Tehran within the next 24 hours, according to Pakistani government sources cited by reports.

The sources said Munir may travel to Tehran on Thursday evening for what they described as “decisive” talks on the framework, which would seek to prevent a return to hostilities and open the door to direct negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program and the future of the Strait of Hormuz.

There has been no official confirmation of the visit so far, although Iranian media has also reported expectations of his arrival.

According to reports, Munir remained in Pakistan until 1100GMT, where he attended a ceremony in Rawalpindi honoring military personnel.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is already in Tehran and reportedly held discussions on the proposed temporary arrangement with senior Iranian officials, including President Masoud Pezeshkian and IRGC commander Ahmad Vahidi, according to the same sources.
