China Voices Alarm Over UAE Nuclear Facility Strike
(MENAFN) On Tuesday, China conveyed “deep concern” regarding a drone strike aimed at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in the United Arab Emirates on Saturday.
Foreign Ministry representative Guo Jiakun stated that Beijing rejects assaults on peaceful nuclear sites and emphasized that the sovereignty, safety, and territorial unity of Gulf nations must be upheld. He also underlined the importance of safeguarding civilians along with non-military infrastructure.
Guo urged all sides to implement an immediate ceasefire, stressing that avoiding additional escalation continues to be the highest priority.
Addressing Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to China from Tuesday through Wednesday, Guo noted that Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to hold discussions on bilateral ties, joint cooperation, as well as regional and global matters.
He characterized China and Russia as “comprehensive strategic cooperative partners of coordination in the new era.”
