Provided by AGPThe public broadcaster KAN, citing an unnamed military source, said the army has recently deployed new “smart targeting systems” in southern Lebanon in an effort to improve detection and interception of incoming drones.
The report also noted that Israeli forces have distributed hundreds of night-vision “Dagger” scopes to troops to enhance their ability to identify and engage moving aerial targets during nighttime operations.
Hezbollah’s use of fiber-optic drones has become a significant operational challenge for Israeli forces, as these systems are reportedly more difficult to detect and intercept compared to conventional drones.
According to the same reporting, these drones have continued to target Israeli troops and military vehicles in southern Lebanon, despite ongoing military activity in the area.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has previously acknowledged that Hezbollah’s missile and drone capabilities represent major threats, urging the military to develop stronger countermeasures.
The situation comes amid continued cross-border tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, even after a ceasefire agreement that took effect on April 17 and was later extended.
Despite the truce, exchanges of fire and Israeli operations in Lebanon have persisted, contributing to significant casualties and displacement, while diplomatic efforts involving external mediation are ongoing.
