Lufthansa Extends Suspension of Middle East Flights

(MENAFN) The Lufthansa Group announced Monday it would extend the suspension of multiple Middle East routes deep into autumn, as the ongoing war in Iran continues to ground commercial aviation across the region.

Flights to and from Abu Dhabi, Amman, Beirut, Riyadh, Dammam, Erbil (northern Iraq), Muscat (Oman), and the Iranian capital Tehran will remain suspended through Oct. 24, the German flag carrier confirmed.

Service to and from Dubai and Tel Aviv faces a shorter but still significant halt, with those routes grounded until May 31.

Lufthansa's low-cost subsidiary Eurowings will mirror many of those restrictions — suspending flights to and from Tel Aviv, Beirut, and Erbil until April 30, while routes connecting Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Amman will remain offline through Oct. 24.

The sweeping suspensions extend across the full Lufthansa Group portfolio, encompassing Swiss, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, ITA Airways, Edelweiss, and Lufthansa Cargo — none of which will operate flights to Dubai or Tel Aviv before May 31.

Lufthansa Cargo freight operations and Eurowings passenger services to the Israeli capital will remain grounded until at least April 30, the group added.
