China Sends 11 Satellites into Orbit in Sea-Based Launch

(MENAFN) Early Tuesday, China launched a fresh batch of 11 satellites into orbit as part of its growing space program. The mission, carried out aboard a Smart Dragon-3 rocket, took place from an offshore site near Rizhao in Shandong province, according to a news agency.

The rocket lifted off at 3:48 am local time (1948 GMT Monday), successfully placing the Geely-05 constellation satellites into their designated orbits. This launch adds to China’s expanding network of satellites, crucial for communications, Earth observation, and navigation.

The operation was managed by the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center and took place from an offshore platform, showcasing China’s capability in sea-based launches. This technique is part of the country’s broader strategy to enhance the flexibility and efficiency of its space missions.

China’s space ambitions continue to grow, with the successful deployment of this satellite group further solidifying its position in the global space race.
