Iran Launches Heavy Missile Offensive on Israel
(MENAFN) In a significant intensification of hostilities, the early hours of Sunday witnessed Iran unleashing a broad missile offensive directed at numerous Israeli sites, in response to a US operation targeting its nuclear infrastructure.
As reported by a news agency, Iran fired no fewer than 40 missiles in a powerful attack that impacted Haifa, Tel Aviv, and several additional areas along Israel’s central and coastal zones.
A national broadcaster noted that Iranian projectiles reached no less than 10 distinct locations within Israeli borders.
A news outlet of Israel verified that five of the Iranian missiles landed on Israeli soil — with three striking the vicinity of Haifa and two hitting parts of central Israel.
Concurrently, the news outlet described the incident in Haifa as “an unusual event,” accompanied by a series of detonations.
Warning sirens were triggered across northern and central parts of the country, including Haifa — an area where, notably, no alerts had been activated during previous attacks, the broadcaster added.
As outlined in a newspaper, considerable physical destruction was inflicted in Haifa.
Further structural damage was also recorded in the Shephelah region and the Dan Bloc, which encompasses Tel Aviv and its neighboring communities.
A broadcaster stated that one building in the Greater Tel Aviv region sustained a direct missile hit.
Numerous other buildings situated along the coastline were also obliterated due to the Iranian offensive.
